Eveready Industries India Ltd., a prominent player in the Indian battery and flashlight market, celebrated the International Week of Deaf People with a unique initiative at the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities in Mumbai.
This institute, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, aims to provide comprehensive services for individuals with speech and hearing impairments.
Event Highlights
The event, titled “Surakshit Kanya: Sashakt Kanya,” focused on raising awareness about the critical issues faced by deaf women and promoting safety measures specifically for them.
Approximately 50 participants attended, including deaf students, parents, teachers, and staff from over ten schools in the city, with a particular emphasis on safety for deaf adults aged 16 and above.
Coordination and Sessions
Dr. Gayatri Ahuja, the Head of the Department of Education at AYJNISHD, coordinated the session for deaf adults.
The program included a demonstration of Eveready’s Siren Torch, designed for personal safety.
Additionally, Mr. Alok Kejriwal and Ms. Pooja Barot from India Signing Hands attended to share their experiences and insights with the audience.
