And guess what? Another Indian athlete, Kashish Lakra, grabbed the silver with a throw of 14.56m. Talk about a double win for India!
Ekta’s journey to this victory is truly inspiring.
Despite facing a tragic accident in 2003 near Kundli in Sonepat district, where a truck overturned her cab, she didn’t let that setback hold her back.
Although the accident left her with a quadriplegic spinal cord injury and confined her to a wheelchair, she persevered and found solace in sports.
Can you imagine? She had dreams of pursuing a career in the medical field, but fate had other plans.
Instead, she channeled her strength into becoming an incredible athlete.
And this isn’t her first taste of victory—she’s previously clinched medals at the Asian Para Games and even qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Talk about resilience!
This victory is not just about winning medals; it’s about overcoming obstacles and proving that nothing can dampen the spirit of determination.
Ekta’s story teaches us that no matter what life throws at us, with grit and perseverance, we can achieve anything we set our minds to.
