Hey, have you heard the big news from Saudi Arabia?
They just held their first-ever fashion show featuring swimsuits!
It’s such a groundbreaking event, especially considering that less than a decade ago, women had to wear body-covering abaya robes.
I read all about it on IndiaToday.in and thought it was worth sharing.
The show was held poolside and showcased the work of Moroccan designer Yasmina Qanzal.
The swimsuits were mostly one-piece designs in red, beige, and blue, with models sporting exposed shoulders and some even showing a bit of midriff.

Yasmina herself said it felt like a historic moment and an honor to be involved.
This fashion show was part of the inaugural Red Sea Fashion Week at the St Regis Red Sea Resort, which is on Saudi Arabia’s western coast.
The resort is part of Red Sea Global, one of the major projects under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been pushing this initiative, aiming to reform the country’s social and economic landscape.
Since becoming first in line to the throne in 2017, Prince Mohammed has been making some dramatic changes.
He’s reintroduced cinemas, organized mixed-gender music festivals, and sidelined the religious police who used to chase people out of malls to pray.
It’s all part of an effort to soften Saudi Arabia’s strict image and open up the country.
Shouq Mohammed, a Syrian fashion influencer at the show, said it wasn’t surprising given Saudi Arabia’s recent efforts to grow its fashion and tourism sectors.
The fashion industry already accounts for $12.5 billion, or 1.4 percent of the national GDP, and employs 230,000 people.
It’s incredible to see how much things are changing.
Another attendee, French influencer Raphael Simacourbe, pointed out that while the show might not seem risque by global standards, it’s a major achievement in the Saudi context.
He felt proud to be part of such a brave step forward.
This story is a reminder of how quickly things can change and the importance of being open to new experiences and perspectives.
It’s also about recognizing the courage it takes to break away from tradition and embrace progress.
