Recently, Panchayat Raj Minister Dhanasri Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, launched the Telangana Disabled Job Portal.
This initiative is designed to help disabled individuals find job opportunities.
The launch took place at the Secretariat, where the Minister also handed out appointment orders to ten people in the Women Welfare Department.
Objective
The main goal of the Telangana Disabled Job Portal (pwdjobportal.telangana.gov.in) is to increase job opportunities for differently abled individuals.
Seethakka highlighted that there are often fewer employment chances for these individuals, and they have to work harder to compete with other job candidates.
Key Highlights of the Launch
During the launch, Seethakka emphasized that disability is not something people choose and that lack of nutritious food can contribute to individuals being disabled.
To address these challenges, the government decided to create the job portal, which allows disabled persons to register and apply for jobs according to their qualifications.
Support for Disabled Individuals
Seethakka encouraged private employers to offer job reservations for disabled individuals.
She explained that five percent of welfare funds have been allocated for the disabled community, and four percent of private job openings are reserved for them.
Notably, the Revanth Reddy government increased the reservation from one percent to four percent.
Financial Support
The government has also committed to providing reservations for differently abled individuals in welfare schemes like Indiramma Housing.
In this year’s budget, Rs 50 crore has been allocated specifically for the disabled community.
Call to Action for Officials
Seethakka directed officials to speed up the recruitment process for pending job vacancies and mentioned that the government would also support self-employment initiatives for differently abled persons.
