Don’t worry about PF transfer when you change jobs

No more paperwork headaches when you change jobs!

Here’s the exciting news: As of April 1st, you won’t need to request your provident fund (PF) to be transferred when you switch jobs.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made things automatic!

Here’s how it works:

If your Universal Account Number (UAN) is active and your info is up-to-date (KYC compliant), your PF balance will automatically move to your new employer’s account.

Don’t worry, you won’t miss a beat! The transfer happens when your new employer makes your first PF contribution.

What’s a UAN?

Think of your UAN as your unique PF ID number.

It stays with you your whole working life, no matter how many jobs you change.

Here’s how to find yours:

  • Go to the EPFO website and click “Know Your UAN Status.”
  • Enter your details and they’ll send a PIN to your phone.
  • Use the PIN to see your UAN on your phone and email.

An extra layer of security!

Another cool change is that the National Pension Scheme (NPS) is now using two-factor authentication to keep your info safe.

This might involve using your Aadhaar card for extra security.

Basically, these changes make managing your retirement savings much easier and safer!
